2009/2010 Grant and Micro-Loan Update:
Dear Friends,
Thank you for years of inspiring projects, hard work and community engagement through exciting locally-based projects. This year, as I am sure you are aware, has been challenging for all of us and has greatly impacted our funding, potential grants and sadly the start of the Micro-Loan program. Because of these challenges we are restricting our funding back to the Pikes Peak Region, but only for the remainder of 2009/2010 grant cycle. We will still accept a limited number of International Applications from Ambassadors registered before 2009, but in all cases project support will have a cap of $750. The Micro-Loan program for 2009/2010 will be limited to supporting the existing Earth Inflatable Classroom Initiative, but will be back for the 2010/2011 cycle.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience...Sincerely;
Eric Carpenter, Executive Director
General Information:
Since 2004, the Global View Foundation has supported high-quality programs that promote the Global View and Sustainability. We are committed to helping communities make positive change a reality and actively seek innovative and effective programs that meet our goals. A significant component of our giving requires local nonprofit organizations to collaborate and develop strategic partnerships with schools, agencies and other ngo's. By emphasizing cooperation between different agencies with similar goals, it is our hope to continually increase the efficiency of our own grant-making and maximize the philanthropic impact of our collective efforts.
Our Grant-Making Process:Twice a year, through a competitive grant-making process, the foundations reviews eligible applications for funding and issues grant awards. Our grant cycles begin with a Letter of Inquiry screening process, continue with an online grant application process, and end with a Board of Directors review meeting that determines, by majority vote, the final dollar amount and terms of each award. The process is designed to objectively and efficiently review the merits of every proposal we receive on the basis of our stated goals and available funds.
Who and What we Fund:
The Global View Foundation limits its funding to 501-C3 non-profit organizations and collaboratives that have a non-profit componet. All projects must have a direct and measurable impact on their community, involve significant education and outreach components, as well as promote the Global View and Sustainability. A priority will be given to projects that are focused on schools and experiential education, community-level change, and that will initiative projects that are self-sustaining.
If you feel your organization has may be a strong fit with the goals and focus of the Global View Foundation please send a Letter of Inquiry that includes:
All Letters of Inquiry must be submitted by midninight on:
Letters submitted before the 10th of January or July will be held for review with the other LOIs until the appropriate Letter of Inquiry deadline has been reached. These dates are firm. Materials must be submitted by midnight of the deadline date to be eligible for that grant cycle.
Due to the volume of inquiries at this preliminary stage, we discourage personal visits to the foundation office by prospective grantees. In addition, we do not accept requests for introductory meetings. Upon approval of your letter, you will have the opportunity to submit detailed proposals and supplementary materials, such as line-item budgets, visuals and references, to further support your grant application. Please do not send these materials with your initial Letter of Inquiry, as they will slow the processing of your request.
The Letter of Inquiry process outlined above helps agencies better target their valuable time and resources before submitting a full application, and allows the foundations to concentrate on the priorities we have identified. All Letters of Inquiry will be reviewed and organizations will be contacted regarding the outcome within two weeks following the Letter of Inquiry deadline.
Once we receive an agency’s complete application, we will begin the review process. We will contact applicants with questions, clarifications, and to schedule possible site visits or meetings. Please wait to hear from us for this follow-up. Only agencies that submit a Letter of Inquiry, and have been notified of approval by email, will have access to the full application.

Following the grant application deadline, the Foundations’ Board of Directors meets to render a decision on the applications presented. All applicants are notified within several days following the board meeting regarding the status of their request. If the Board determines a grant will be awarded, the Global View Foundations will generate grant agreement documents for signatures.
We are unable to fund many proposals because they do not fall within our current focus areas, or they do not rank as high within our programming priorities as other requests and ongoing projects, not because there was anything lacking in the application or Letter of Inquiry.
To ensure accountability and compliance with the terms of the grant agreement, all of our grantees are required to submit mid-term progress and final evaluation reports outlining the extent to which they are meeting their financial and program goals. The grant agreement outlines the evaluation requirements and our online reporting procedure. Failure to complete these reports on time will disqualify the grantee from future funding.
If you have any questions or comments on this process, please feel free to contact us at anytime.....
